This proposal is laid in response to a disturbing scene which, I believe, was broadcast by one of our TV news channels, on Monday. Seeing the incident prompted me to write to the General Medical Council, as below, to request an investigation.

Dear sir/madam,
I have become aware of a disturbing video recording [1], which appears to capture a man, believed to be Sajid Javid, coercing, practically physically, another individual to accept an experimental medical treatment.
A search of your register indicates that there is no Sajid Javid who currently enjoys “registration with a licence to practise” [2, 3].
As your web site states, “it is illegal if they practice medicine without [registration with a licence to practise] and is something that [the General Medical Council] would need to look into” [4], I request that you take up this incident. Since Mr Javid, if, indeed, it was he, appeared somewhat manic, in the recording, I believe there is significant risk of re-offence, and that this gentleman constitutes a material public safety threat. I, therefore, implore you to act with urgency.

It is proposed that government ministers should promote public understanding of the role of doctors, not play doctors themselves.
