George Orwell’s term ‘double think’ means, among other things, being able to hold two contradictory beliefs at once.
This idea is closely related to Irvin Janis’ concept ‘group think’, since if most others don’t find ‘double think’ a problem it is more likely not to be noticed.
‘Double think’ is more than the hypocrisy constantly exhibited by our ‘leaders’, who for example see nothing troubling in arriving at ‘climate crisis’ conferences in ‘greenhouse gas’ spewing vehicles, since these people are aware of their duplicity. The trouble with ‘double think’ is that what must be obvious to anyone with any logical insight is invisible to those so deluded by their righteousness that 2+2=5 is true if you say it is for long enough.
Apologies for the NZ focus but unfortunately the nation of ‘smiling zombies’ offers a constant stream of illustrations of this devastating blindness.
This article: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-delta-outbreak-latest-report-of-adverse-reactions-to-covid-jab-released/NS4VVC4YFP3TCQ7XC4EL4UV5XY/ presents the half logic of yet another establishment baby, Associate Professor Helen Petousis-Harris:
'She said the reports were simply people reporting something that happened after a vaccination - not proof that it was caused by the vaccination.'
'Petousis-Harris said a lot of people talk about knowing someone who has had a severe reaction, or even died, and rumours spread quickly, despite there being no real link.'
'A death in the days following vaccination can be coincidental. When a large number of people are being vaccinated, including elderly people and those with significant long-term health issues, there is a high probability that some people will die coincidentally after their vaccination.'
ADVERSE EVENTS AND COVID DEATHS – WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
It will not escape any person with intellectual capacity that exactly the same reasoning can be applied to the rule of counting any death after 28 days of a 'positive test' as a Covid death. But if you are entranced by ‘double think’ you won’t see it, just as a colour blind person cannot see what is obvious to the non-colour blind.
So what can be done?
What about this idea? It may seem a little bizarre but then so is ‘double think’.
It is proposed that the government, some other official body, or a national newspaper should set up a categorised website where citizens can report examples of ‘double think’
